In my Mars in Leo post, I briefly hinted at the slightly problematic nature of the ‘self-love movement’ mantras; since this is a post about Venus, the planet of Love and relationships, entering the showy, exuberant sign of Self-love par excellence (on August 26), it’s perhaps the case to elaborate more eloquently on the subject.

Saturn has a very clear, plain way of letting us know exactly what our duties and responsibilities are in any given situation. Even though the lessons of patience and accountability might be hard ones to learn, Saturn is, compared to other planets, extremely easy to grasp and work with.
Understandably, though, his Retrograde cycles, with their stern imperative of revisiting plans, obligations and rules, might be puzzling to navigate; we cling onto the things in life that seem steady, sturdy and dependable, only to find out that they can’t quite support us the way we thought. It can feel frustrating – discouraging, even.

The most anticipated and debated astrological event of the Summer is upon us. The upcoming New Moon in Leo, the second of two Leo New Moons in a row, marks both the grand finale to this tumultuous Eclipse season, and a fiery new beginning on a collective and personal level.
Arriving on August 21, at 6:30 PM UTC, at 28 degrees of the most radiant and theatrical of the signs, this New Moon is a supercharged, blazing sequel to July 23’s previous Leo New Moon, with the added power of bright blue star Regulus, of the transiting North Node, and, most importantly, of a Total Solar Eclipse.

Before I had studied Zen for thirty years, I saw mountains as mountains, and waters as waters. When I arrived at a more intimate knowledge, I came to the point where I saw that mountains are not mountains, and waters are not waters. But now that I have got its very substance I am at rest. For it’s just that I see mountains once again as mountains, and waters once again as waters.

Most astrologers seem to agree on the fact that the month of August 2017 looks remarkably intense. Intense as in ‘shaky’, ‘metamorphic’, perhaps ‘life-altering’: for some of us, it might even mark a prominent demarcation, a point of no-return to certain things and situations that have outlived their usefulness.
This unanimous opinion is based on a number of astrological factors, which include Mercury’s upcoming retrograde phase (I’ll cover it in the next post), the overall interaction between transiting planets (Jupiter/Pluto anyone?), and, most importantly, the two eclipses that punctuate the month.
